About Cruising Andromeda

We are two hard working people who recently re discovered our love of boating and traveling.  We are fortunate to call one of the Great Lakes' most beautiful ports home.

We got married and raised our family in a small port town on the shores of Lake Michigan.   One of the reasons we chose to move here twenty plus years ago was my fond memories of salmon fishing out on the big lake as a kid.  There was something mythical, and surreal about passing the pier heads in the early morning.  The quiet hum of the motor, the deep black of the western horizon was peaceful and terrifying.  The potential for anything to happen and the excitement of the unknow always drew me back to the big lake. It still does to this day.

Boats are a lot of work.  Boats can also be a lot of money.  We put our boating hobby on the back burners and concentrated on our young family and our young careers for more than a decade.  In 2019 on a whim we bought a pontoon.  The next summer we upgraded to an open bow sun deck(so we could get back out on Lake Michigan!) Then one night over a few beers, our good friend Jack told a story about how his parents, years ago, had done something called the Great Loop.....we were hooked.
